The Magnanimous Growth Of Gandhar In Three Decades

Since ancient times, oil has been the king of economics. Oil Industry is a major contributor to the strength of the nation, as it generates income on both the domestic and international markets. The Indian refining sector is growing rapidly and will continue to do so. The Indian government has plans to increase the capacity of its refineries to 400 mtpa by 2025. State-run refineries in India have a capacity of 250 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), while non-state refineries can produce 60 MTPA.

Gandhar began its journey only three decades before. Today, we have a market worth $481 million and a production capacity of 2,5 lakh metric tonnes, making us among the top five Indian exporters.

Gandhar – The Beginning

Ramesh Parekh, founder of the firm, began his oil venture in 1975 by accepting a position in the lubricant department of Khimji Punja & Co. In 1977, Mr.Parekh and his brothers took inspiration from this experience to start their own trading company. They incorporated his marketing skills to propel the business to success.

The Parekh Brothers then expanded their empire, purchasing two plots in Taloja (Maharashtra) covering 48,588 square meters. This was where they built the Gandhar Oil Refinery, which has a 120k Kl production capacity for distilling naphtha and LNG. The Gandhar Group achieved its first major milestone when it purchased two plots of land in Taloja, Maharashtra, covering 48,588 sq. mt. This allowed them to build the Gandhar Oil Refinery with a production capacity of 120k Kl for distilling diesel and naphtha.

Gandhar – Riding the momentum

The Gandhar Group is committed to empowering the oil industry by enhancing our financial and stake expansion as well as maintaining the quality of products and services. Gandhar Oil Refinery was a Bharat Oil Corporation dealer as part of this pursuit. In addition, we began supplying coal for powerhouses and steel mills.

Gandhar Group invested in a second plant at Silvassa, a factory that produces automotive oils. The plant covers 80,000 sq. mt. and has a capacity of 150K Kl. This investment ended the partnership between Gandhar Group and Apar. Gandhar Group, now leading its business independently and standing tall, remains committed to the goal of empowering the oil industry.

Gandhar – The Next Generation

The Gandhar empire is at unimaginable heights today, ten years after the second generation of leaders joined the group. Gandhar is one of the five largest white oil manufacturers in the world. We achieved another milestone in 2014 by establishing a GOI-recognized Research and Development Center (Government of India). We are able to create waves in different industries with our plants, which have an unbeatable capacity for manufacturing oils.

Gandhar – Around the Globe

Our clientele is not only diverse and unique but also well-known globally. In order to stay ahead of the competition, we import white oils, automotive oils, specialty oils, and transformer oils from a global network of over 100 countries.

In 2019, we reaffirmed our generosity by partnering up with Texol Lubritech FZC in Sharjah, where we invested in a facility that meets the needs of both the local and international markets. It is a testament to the credibility and trust that we have built in the world. Gandhar’s stature and power have been constructed without relying on external reliability, and our growth knows no limits.

Gandhar: A great workplace

Gandhar pledges to stay ahead of the competition by maintaining integrity within our team, amongst distributors and customers. Our CSR campaigns encourage us to do good deeds and ensure that as many people as possible have a high-quality life. Our team spirit and culture have consistently surpassed all benchmarks through the multiple awards and accomplishments we’ve achieved over the past three decades.
