Gear Oils
“My wife and I now run Red Line Oil products in both our turbo street cars, my beach buggy and clubman race car. I thought the Red Line Oil range pretty good but that changed to amazing when shortly after, the mechanic at my Subaru dealership told me all the crunching in my Subaru WRX gearbox was going to add up to a rebuild ($2500) – OUCH!!! I ASKED Tim Slako who might be the best bet to rebuild the gearbox – he came up with a suggestion that at first seemed like a pretty hair brained idea.
Let’s put some Red Line Gearbox Oil in and see what happens! I thought Tim must think he has holy powers and can work minor miracles, but at this stage I was a bit short on funds so, what the hell – give it a try I said.
My wife actually drove the WRX home and when I asked her how it felt she replied – like brand new. Now I love and respect my wife but she had only driven the car 3km from Tim’s workshop, how on earth could it be that good so soon. I started to think she was imagining things so in I jumped and off up the street I roared – once again not really believing it could be fixed that easily. Thirty minutes later I turned up at home (tail between my legs) gee honey, I am sorry, it does drive like new.
So now we use Red Line Oil products all the time, they are a bit dearer than other oils but they do what no other oil I know can do and have saved us countless amounts of money along the way.

To explain - I have a 1993 Skyline GTR which HAD a problem with the 3 to 4 upshilt crunching. Being a mechanic myself, I tried the usual oil change with original oil and then the tricks such as synthetic and finally 50% synthetic and 50% auto trans. None of the above solved the problem at all in fact the last one made it worse.
I spoke to Tim (Red Line Representative) and he said to try the 70/90 NS first and see how we go. I purchased it and when put in the gearbox improved the shift feel but not the crunch. A little disappointed, I returned to Tim and we took it for a drive. Tim said we WILL solve it but I was less than convinced and was already looking at the $2200 parts bill from Nissan for the upgrade kit ( because even Nissan knew it was a problem )
Tim gave me some Red Line Lightweight ShockProof gear oil ( pretty blue ! ) and I went home and put it in and at no extra charge which shows faith. WELL, it wasn't 100km, it wasn't 10 km, it was about 100 metres and the crunch was gone. To say I was gobsmacked would be an understatement !!
I even tried fiat shifting and still no crunch. It is fantastic in this advertising hype charged world to find something that actually does what is claimed and I have saved myself about $2500 in a gearbox rebuild in the process. All I can say Red Line and Tim Slako is THANK YOU!!!”
